for their lives and that of others and as part of her annual routine exercise of bringing succor to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) anchored on 'DOGO NAWAHA PROJECT', we converged today (18/12/20) at LEA Primary School Fwapwa Jos South LGA of Plateau State to once again touch and affect positively the lives of the pupils and the community via a program tagged 'Christmas Funfare'

 

The rationale behind this heart touching program is to ensure that some of their needs in terms of living and academics are met with a view of ameliorating the daunting challenges and plights being experienced courtesy the attacks launched on the people of Dogo Nahawa years ago, resonating hope and igniting the spirit of greatness and excellence in them.

 

And also to bring them to the limelight on the essence of celebrating Christmas and how as little children can start exemplifying the teachings and attitudes demonstrated by Christ.

 

The program was agog with an array of activities that stirred the happiness and gladness in the children relegating the horrible sorrow and sadness that had permeated.

 

The Headmistress of the school during the welcoming address thanked the organization and prayed for wide doors opening to continue this act and gesture worthy of emulation. In aligning her words with action, she asked two pupils (male and female) to pray for the organization to experience more blessings and prosperity. The pupils did justice to that.

 

The Executive Director of The Platform Foundation, Mr Alex Ntino in a brief remark, expressed great joy for yet another opportunity granted by God to come and touch the lives of the children with little gifts and refreshments as well as celebrate with them during the yuletide season. He showered endless appreciation to the team and the community for their continued demonstration of ceaseless cooperation.

 

In a very concise homily titled "Why we celebrate Christmas" Mrs. Onyekachi charged the children and others to ensure that they copy everything about Jesus as He is the reason for the season. She encouraged them to as children practice the virtues of obedience and humility as exhibited by Christ. Referencing from the Holy book of John Chapter three verses 16, she emphasized that Christ first showed love to us and so the need to emulate Him is pertinent.

 

It will be recalled that on the 8th of March 2010, Dogo Nahawa, a community in the South of Jos, the Plateau State capital came under heavy attack by suspected Fulani nihilists where over five hundred human lives were annihilated, brutalized and exterminated with an unaccounted number of houses razed down leaving the few survivors faced with abject penury and countless challenges.

 

The enormity and myriad of hardships being faced by the victims of the dreaded and callous attack necessitated this intervention that has been taken place for years which is geared towards the complete rekindling of hope and restoration of lost glory.

 

The children were presented with academic items such as books, bags, pens, pencils, Bibles, and others. Shelter such as customized T.Shirts. And other eateries such as rice, egg, meat, cabin, and Sweet. To the delight of all and sundry, the children were so excited and thankful for the items received. This is to help them stabilize in their quest of pursuing their destiny as well as fulfilling their dreams.

 

Speaking on behalf of the community, two parents who could not hide their joy expressed total satisfaction and appreciation to the organization praying that God will never fail to grant their request as well as continue to pour unending blessings on them. Charged the children to continue to pray for the organization for long life and prosperity.
