The Platform Foundation in partnership with Nico's Library in the UK is bringing the first of its kind to Jos, Plateau State: The Mobile Library.

The Mobile Library is a strategy to address the lack of libraries and book-rich environment for children living in very poor communities including IDP camps. It is designed to operate three times a week through the services of the librarians, bus driver, and volunteers.

At times that suit a particular community, whether school days or holidays, the mobile library will convey books on science, art and craft, languages, history and geography, inventions, animal science, storybooks etc. into these communities, in order for children and teenagers in those areas to have access to books and develop a reading culture.

The Bus would also convey a number of chairs, tables, mats and toys for preschool children. On arrival at a designated spot, the equipment would be set up into a reading area where about 100 or more children can come together, read different books, and take part in other educational activities.

The library is designed to operate a two-hour session for both reading and non-reading actives. Furthermore, after interacting with the children for some time, book lending would be activated for passionate and interested readers to borrow books and return at specified times. The funds we collect will contribute to buying the Mobile Library. We really appreciate your help to make this dream come true! Education is a powerful weapon!!!
