Christmas Outreach to Hurti Community 2025

Wednesday, 10 December 2025, marked a memorable day for the Ron people of the Hurti community as The Platform Foundation extended support, encouragement, and Christmas relief to families affected by the tragic events earlier in the year. The outreach brought gifts, fellowship, and renewed hope to a community still recovering from the April attack in which suspected militia destroyed homes and over 300 properties.

The outreach team departed early in the morning from the Foundation’s Bukuru Low-Cost headquarters, united by a shared understanding of the importance of standing with vulnerable communities in times of deep loss. This mission marked the Foundation’s second visit to Hurti since the April incident, underscoring TPF’s commitment to long-term engagement and sustained support rather than one-time interventions.

Despite challenging road conditions, the team arrived after a three-hour journey and was warmly received by community leaders. Pastors from various denominations gathered to welcome the team, share in fellowship, and receive words of encouragement rooted in faith.

The central message focused on casting burdens upon God and remaining steadfast in prayer, trusting in His care and faithfulness even in seasons of adversity. The team assured the community that they were not alone and that Christians across the world continue to pray for them.

As a gesture of solidarity and global Christian unity, the Foundation presented greeting cards from Christian brethren, conveying love, hope, and reassurance to the people of Hurti.

As the team moved through the village, one truth became clear. Nearly every family had lost someone. Every home carried a story of pain.

And yet, the people of Hurti sang. They danced.

Their joy rose from the ashes of hardship, reflecting a resilience forged through suffering and perseverance.

A key moment of the visit was a courtesy call to the paramount ruler of Hurti. During the meeting, the Foundation explained the purpose of the outreach and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the community’s recovery.

This was followed by the presentation of relief materials, including bags of rice, beans, maize, and Bibles. These items were entrusted to church leaders for fair distribution among the various denominations within the community.

The pastors expressed deep gratitude for the food items, cash gifts, and spiritual support, describing the intervention as timely, uplifting, and beyond their expectations, especially given the ongoing challenges facing the community.

The team concluded the visit in the evening and returned to Jos, grateful for the opportunity to stand with Hurti and reaffirm the Foundation’s vision of raising a responsible and resilient generation.

This outreach stands as a testimony of Hurti: the faithfulness of God in the midst of persecution, the strength of a community that refuses to be broken, the impact of compassionate support, and an unshakable hope that continues to rise despite adversity.
