The 29th of May, 2021 was a fun-filled day both for children and their parents who reside in the Heipang IDP Camp, situated in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The event started at about 15mins past 10 am, Nigerian time.
The event kicked off with prayer and a speech by Mr Alex Ntino, the ED of The Platform Foundation, in his speech, Mr Alex encouraged the children to have dreams and take whatever they do seriously.
The founder of NICO’s Library, Natalia Quiroga who joined the event via zoom also encouraged the kids in her words to make good use of the opportunity given to them. She also thanked The Platform Foundation for this collaboration.

Among our guest was the chairman of the event, a lecturer at the University of Jos, Mr Victor Delmak who also spoke to the children on the importance of reading and education. Mr Delmak also pledged his support to the sustainability of the library.
There were loads of activities ranging from storytelling, reading and dancing games for both children and mothers.
Finally, the library was officially opened, and the guest children and parents were shown around the library.
Other activities included the cutting of the cake and serving of refreshments to all.
Children aged 10-14 were given school bags containing stationeries including exercise books, pen, pencil, ruler etc. While children aged 8-9, were given school bags for their books.
Two mums who took part in the reading and dancing competition were given a handbag each, which was sent by Natalia alongside the books.
The chairman of the IDP camp, in his closing remark, thanked The Platform Foundation and everyone who has been a part of this great development.
